First of all, sorry if I've posted this in the wrong forum
I've just received my k750 through the post - lovely it is, especially since I'd been using a Nokia 1100 before that. However, I'm hoping to transfer the number over from my old phone to my new one. I've already phoned about a PAC mode and am ready to send it off, but I'm not sure what'll become of my old phone after the number gets transferred - will it still be usable? My old phone is on Virgin Mobile pay-as-you-go, by the way - there isn't a contract involved or anything.
I've probably missed out some vital information here so do ask questions if you want.

Your old number will go to your new provider. The phones are not affected. So, you could get a new SIM from your old provider and use your old phone as back-up, or give it away.

So my old phone should still be usable? If so, what will its number be? Surely they both can't have the same number? (This is all new to me)

Did you get the K750i on a new contract with a new network or did you buy it sim free?
If you got it on contract then you have to give the new network the PAC code when you take out the contract not after. If it is sim-free then you dont need the PAC code, all you do is put your old sim in the new phone.

Your old phone will still be useable but you need to get a NEW SIM card with a NEW number. Virgin SIMS are cheap so you can have a second (your old phone) phone as a spare. Or you could give it to a relative. Or you could do nothing with it; it's up to you.

Yes, I'm moving from Virgin Mobile (PAYG) to a contract with another network (O2). However, when I asked them transferring my number, they said I'd have to send them the PAC code after I bought it... I hope they haven't told me wrong...
So, basically, if I want to use my old phone after the number transfer goes through then I'll have to buy a new SIM card for it?

Yep, get a new Virgin SIM and you have a "new" phone.
