Hi - im going on holiday and have a 8-9 hour flight ...

I would like to know roughly how long the in built music player will play mp3's before dying (on a full charge)

or - power mp3 ... i have that app - which is best for mp3s in terms of battery life ...

ALSO - what about smart movie - how long will that last?

I plan on taking my old p800 battery (fully charged) - so how long will these 3 apps run for before draininy my battery ?

With a spare battery in your pocket you'll be all right for the flight.

Hopefully someone will give you the answer to this - I'm not really sure.

One thing I did on a recent flight, though, to ensure I had enough power to last, was to take my solar charger:

If you can ensure a window seat on the sunny side, you can keep going indefinitely, but it also has a built-in battery that'll give you an extra half-charge even in complete darkness (assuming that battery has had a chance to charge itself beforehand).

There are also various 'emergency' chargers that run from regular battery cells, which are cheaper, but you gotta keep buying cells.

Just a thought anyway.

i hope someone has an answer - surely someone will have done this on a flight etc...

I have a long wait and drive to the arport too - so im not sure whether to use my phone at all you see ... so i need figures to be safe ...

ive used all my cash to buy currency - so i cant afford to buy even a cheap mp3 cd player!!!

From my experience (I used to fly between Canada to Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan every couple months - 19 hours flight). And I don't use my P910 all the time. Most of the time I was just sleeping. PLUS, if you do use your phone, most likely you will switch to "FLIGHT MODE" and that is going to be your battery saver.

I tried one of those emergency chargers. It came with an Ericsson adapter and ran on 4 AAA-cells. But when I plugged it into my P910, my screen started to fade away and showed all kinds of funky lines. I immediately yanked it out and haven't tried it since.

I would recommend to look for a charger that explicitely mentions the SE P-series on its compatibility list, merely Ericsson appears not to be enough.

Turning the backlight off will considerably save battery life, but could make viewing the screen in poor light pretty tough, for watching films etc.

Something else interesting I found about battery. From a full charged battery, I can have 2-3days (through my normal use) when I carry it to work in a bag and leave it on my desk. Today I decided to put in my pocket, well the battery after a full charge and I came home was already at 23%.

Obviously when it is in your pocket and you move around a lot the buttons get pressed. I have the keys locked, but it seems to be that if you go from "clock" mode screensaver and having the key pressed it does something to the battery, although the backlight is still dark. Is the phone thinking that you are trying to activate the keys will drain the battery?? Just a thought.
