> Removing camera from P9x0
Bookmark topic
Hi, is there any company that removes the camera from the P9x0 (or ships a new device with the camera already removed)? I cannot take a phone with a camera with me for security business reasons. I find it paradox to build a camera inside a "business phone" as it makes it impossible for a lot of business men to carry the device with them. At least, it's not understandable that manufacturere don't at least offer a camera-less version.
That doesn't apply to SE alone. Almost all smartphones have cameras these days. This is a joke.
If everything else fails: Is there a good (equivalent) alternative to a P9x0 that lacks a camera?

get a case that covers the whole back of the phone.

If you really have no need for the camera, fill the aperture with epoxy!

I doubt, ideas like filling the lense with epoxy or putting the device in a larger case will help. The company security people don't like to be fooled. We're not talking about fooling our friends here. There is just no place for a camera in a business phone.

I agree. Perhaps future phones should have the camera outer lens and slider mechanism made as part of the phone back cover without which the camera wouldn't work. (perhaps a portion of the cover that presses a button on the phone circuit board)
This way corporate packs can simply be an alternative flat featured back cover missing the camera outer lens.

The camera fixes via a ribbon cable to the main board as far as I know. You could open up the phone and remove the camera part.

Of course there are companies that don't even allow mobiles on their grounds, but luckily I don't have to do business with those. And if you allow mobiles, then you practically allow sound recorders because you can as well dial to another number and record there.
