> Tightening the S700?

Hey all,
My prized possesion (S700i) has been manhandled!
I was in a meeting the other day and my phone was ringing. Since I have Faithless - Insomnia as the ring tone it is quite loud and I forgot to put it on silent.
One of my collegues tried to answer the phone and thought it had to be opened to answer.
The problem is that he did not rotate it but proceeded to pull it apart before realising that it rotates. The phone is ok but now it is loose when closed (the screen does not fit tight against the keypad).
I could live with it but when the phone vibrates it makes a terrible noise and the screen is constantly "tapping" against the phone.
Is there a way to make it tighter again or is it doomed?

Best bet is to take it to Sony Ericsson repairs center for a fix. And make sure you forward the bill to the the guy who caused the problem.

Sounds like the rotor bit has been stressed on its brackets. Best way is to take it apart and straighten the bracket out. Should be a 10 min job max.

As Rookwise said. " It should be an easy job ". If you feel comfortable doing it youself, go for it. I would. I'd rather do it my self, atleast I know I would take the time to adjust it well.
I had some one in my office once asked to see my phone, He started to do the same thing. As soon as I saw his intentions, I said " STOP ",
STOP, STOP ". Grrrrrrrr I freaked out.

Like I say, I don't mind doing it, just need a pointer or two to get me started.

Yes. Undo the screws in the battery compartment first. Then take off the cover below the keypad and undo those 2 screws. The back will unclip. There's more screws inside. Also 2 connectors which slide out. Make sure you know which one came from which connector (one should have a blue mark on it). The screws that hold the rotor bracket are stuck with locktight so make sure you have a decent screwdriver and give them a sharp, quick turn. Be careful though cos if you don't do it right you can round the screws.

Just take your time and be vary careful. With practice a full housing swap can be done in less than 10 minutes. Will be taking mine apart again soon as i just taken delivery of a genuine s710 full black housing. Also in the process of chroming a k750 housing. Hoping it'll turn out ok.
