> How does Backup actually work?
Bookmark topic
I think I have only backed up my phone once. I just wanna know what is actually backed up. Tried searching but I come up with mostly problems with backing up. I also read the manual but it doesn't really satisfy my curiosity. So once I connect the phone, and click the back up button, this window comes up. There are two check boxes, one for storing the back up file in the memory card, or on the phone memory. So what I don't get is: is there also a backup file stored on the pc? Hehe, sorry if that's a stupid question, just really don't know how it works. Because I'm planning on doing the firmware upgrade since everyone seems to be saying its worked out fine. And with the firmware upgrade, the whole phone memory is wiped out right? If that's the case and the backup is stored in the phone memory, how do I do the restore then?
Anyway, another question while I'm at it. What is actually backed up by the SE backup program/utility? Are SMS, and pictures backed up as well?
That's it for now. Hopefully my questions made sense. Thanks for the info.

one clarification: the back files are stored on your PC, not on the phone. the options are for what info you wanna backup, phone and memory.
as far as i experiened, it backs up all apps, sms, pics, mms, music, and all settings.

If you want to see what's backed up - you can have a look inside a backup file. Just look on the web (or do a search here) for "Backup Inspector".
This little program will let you browse your backup and you'll be able to see what's being backed up.

Oh wow, that makes it so much more clearer for me! Thanks for the info guys.
So apps are also backed up like Sman, agilemessenger and oggplay? So all I gotta do after doing a firmware upgrade is do a restore and I'm set?
