I'm aware that the P800 and P900 have no fax support to the extent that they can't even operate as fax modems for laptops, for example, but how does the P910i fare?

I notice under the Divert Calls menu on my P910i that there is a separate divert option for fax calls, so it would seem that the phone does handle fax calls, probably as a fax modem for another device rather than being able to send or receive faxes itself. Have I got that right?

Doh! The answer's in the manual. I didn't have it right:

"Your P910i does not support fax transmission. Even if your operator subscription supports fax transmission, fax calls will be rejected. However, they can be diverted to another number ..."

So that explains why I could only ever receive faxes via my Orange UK Mobile Terminated (MT) fax subscription either when the phone was off or I was out of signal range, etc (and hence the divert to the Answerfax service kicked in), or I manually set a divert via the menu on the phone.

(Just a pity no one at Orange tech support knew enough about the phone to be able to tell me this!)
