> all calls are withheld numbers when abroad

hey. i'm on vodafone and i'm in cyprus at the mo. any call i receive the number's withheld. i don't know why. but it's really annoying. i have a cousin also from england but on one2 one and his one shows the number. why is this:?

The network operator you are roaming on (any or all of them) may not have the CallerID information passed onto them from Vodafone in the U.K., possibly because of network arrangements not being setup.

because one2one are better than Vodafone, you should switch, bet he has cheaper calls than you too.

None of them showed me the number of the caller when i was there.
Almost all other EUROPEAN countries have far better (upright) operators !
Probably this is to make it impossible for me to reject the call.

well in london vodafone is much better than one2one. in my area, all the one2one members keep complaining about no signal when mine's on full. the only thing they're good at is making mistakes giving you free calls once in a while.
also, vodafone being so big, will be one of the first to start using any new services that will be available in teh future. ie 3g. correct me if i'm wrong.

Yeah I am on Vodafone as well in the UK. When I went to UAE and Pakistan; the numbers did not show up. But when I was roaming in France the numbers came up as normal.

i was being sarcastic...call up Vodafone and get their technical support to give you details why you never got caller id when roaming...i'd like to know, i roamed in Germany frequently last year and got caller id sometimes but not all, i was roaming on 4 different networks and didnt note down which ones showed the numbers over which didnt, i also got caller id roaming in New York.
as for that poster from Hungary...come on mate, your from Hungary, dont be silly.

Vodafone should have CallerID with roaming partners that it either owns or have close ties with. In Germany Vodafone-D2 will probably give you CallerID but T-Mobile may not (unless it has been agreed to pass this information on their network).
That's probably why you sometimes get CallerID from someone when abroad and then not get it from the same person (because you're roaming on another network, albeit in the same country).
CallerID whilst roaming is no big deal, it gets bad when you need something useful like GPRS (your operator may have a GSM roaming agreement with someone, but it may not extend to GPRS roaming because of billing or other difficulties).
