Hello
I recently lost my Nokia 6230 and so now have SE 750i. O2 sent me a replacement sim and advised that everything on my tariff would remain the same.
I now have the replacement sim but when I checked my tariff with O2 they advised me that I receive 600 free texts per month instead of what I signed up for (unlimited free text).
Heres the details o2 sent me...
SIM OFF PEAK £10.00 per month:
600 free messages per month 10p thereafter 50 off peak calls per day to landlines and o2/genie mobiles
600 WAP minutes per month
20ppm peak calls
2ppm off peak calls
20ppm peak/2ppm off peak to call o2 and old genie phones
50ppm peak/35ppm off peak to call non o2 and old genie phones
10p to retrieve voicemail
Does anyone else have the same tariff as me (£10 per month) and do you receive unlimited free text or 600 as advised by o2?

You can't really complain too much for a tariff like that with a K750 for £10 a month.

hmmm I was expecting a reply like that but thats not the point mate - if I wanted to sell the sim I would get a lot more for it with unlimited free texts than with 600. Plus if you sign up to unlimited free texts then you should get unlimited free texts.
ANYONE with this same contract, advise please.

It's the standard rubbish they send out. If you had unlimited then you may still have it - I did when I got a new SIM. Soon after they started the tariff they changed the T&C to include the 600 clause.
I say may thought as with any contract provider as long as they give you notice they're quite within their rights to change their offer. And this can be on an individual customer basis.
One thing I did note about your issue, was that you talked about selling the SIM. You can't. If you read your T&C the account doesn't have a transfer between names option like some do.

You mean you lost your, they sent a replacement and then your unlimited text changed to 600 free text per month?

No I got to keep my unlimited, I can only presume because I hardly ever use voice minutes so the value they were losing was lower. My partner however ended up having it changed to 600 text and no matter how much we argued or got the 'experts' in there was nothing we could do as they are within their rights.
Apparetly when the Genie network was set up they were classed as 'offers' and not tariffs. Semantics I know but words count in consumer law. There was a whole hoo-haa on BBC Watchdog at the time. They were serving notice by text message which was allowed as it was notified in the terms that they would serve notice but not by which method.

ok but the cause stated that if you use excess free txt/call then they could cap your freebies but I NEVER use excess txt (prob don't even come close to 600 per month) and never even make use of the 50 free calls per day so they is no real reason that my 'offer' should ever of been downgraded.

No I never said anything about capping. Sorry I should've been clearer. O2 are within their rights to change your Genie tariff details at any time, for duration of your life with O2. How they decide who they do and don't do this to I can't tell, I can only guess they look at average customer value (as does my company).
