I don't really know where Sony/Ericsson are going with their new phones at the moment.
I like the 'old' Ericsson, who produce what I see as more 'adult', 'business' phones which are stylish and sleek in plainer colour schemes, but with good feature lists, comparable to say the Nokia 6310, such as T39, T28, R520, T68, etc.
Their new range seems to be aimed at the 'youth' market, with bubble gum colours, changeable covers, etc. Like someone said in another topic, they look like fisher-price toys! I'm even a bit worried that the P800 will look a bit childish, with a gimmicky camera, and white and baby blue colour scheme. The feature lists are also a bit poor on everything but the P800. Only the T300 has MMS which, considering it's being billed as 'the next big thing' is a bit poor. None of them have Bluetooth (which they managed to fit into most of the Ericsson phones 2 years ago), and the T600 doesn't even have GPRS!

I'm left now wondering what to upgrade to from my T39 when it finally falls apart! I can only hope that they've got a really great 'adult' phone just around the corner (that isn't trying to be a PDA) to release.

By the way, don't mean to offend anyone, I know my tastes arn't everyone's. I'd like to hear what everyone thinks!

Fully agree.

Only the new pebble grey colour of the T68i seems to match my taste a bit.. Though it cant fully diminish the plasticiy feeling of the phone...

... dreaming of those old magnesium chassis of the T28/T39/R520-line... .sigh..

cheers,

hymie

Not according the the Esato mobile phones page:
http://www.esato.com/phones/?phone=42

This could be wrong, 'cause the T600 has HSCSD, and it looks the most 'businessy' of the 3 with the metal face plate, etc.

Wait until the REAL phones come out. Sad to say but the current pseudo-SE phones look like they have an identity crisis....

@Aikono: True... You've got a point there.
The current SE phones doesnt even remotely look like a well-thought and balanced phone range.

I think they are still working hard to merge both companies.. The current line of products is more or less an interim attempt to have products on the shelves until the "real" new co-designed phones will be ready for the market.

Still, what bugs me is the design of the latest bunch of SE phones (T600, T300, T200, T68i, P800) - Apart from T68i and P800 they just dont fit together.. there's no stringent line (or not really at least) in the design department of those phones.. thats werd, especially as Sony always was and is fond of product design and corporate branding and product awareness... They also stressed the big efforts both companies planned to invest in that field at the beginning of the merger...

Well, hope the needed finetuning will take place in further products to be announced begining of 2003.

cheers,
hymie

i agree the new phones look real bad. i alsow loved the T28-39 version and the R520 (but that's a big one) and the T68m looks and feels much better then the T68i.the menu design is difirent its uglyer i upgarded form T68m to T68i and the menu is ugly, i never thaught a menu could be ugly.

i myself am unsure of the new designs but all the phones apart from the t600 have got very good brand identity, all the same colours same colour flow, same keypads, se badge, so its very good for under a year of partnership
