Does anybody know how to increase the length of time the phone rings before the operators answering service takes the call. My T39 only rings for about ten seconds before it cuts off!

I used to have the same problem... there's nothing what you can do about it in the phone settings, but sometimes your operator can change it for you. Call customer service for your network and ask them.

no see if u have diverts when not answered active this will happen,there is an option in the diverts to extend the time this is the only thing that will help you for sure .

Put ur sim card in a Nokia 8210 and there u have the option to change the time the phone rings (varies between 5 secs to 30 secs). Its under the diverts menu.

I think is a network dependent service.

One of our local providers in the Philippines (though Im not a client of theirs) has voicemail activated by default from the network. If the phone is not reachable (busy, out of coverage, etc) they will automatically transfer the call to your VMS.

Some users hate it, and they have to make an official request to the telco to disable it. The clients can't fiddle anything on their phones to disable it.

I found a way to do it (on Vodafone UK anyway).
Dial **61*recall mailbox number*10*amount of seconds# Send.
This worked for my T39 on UK Vodafone -- Remember to put the + sign before your recall mailbox number.

The code is **61*Voice mailbox no*Delay time# and press Yes to send.

The delay can be; 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 seconds.

So if I have the voice mailbox number 8123456 and want to set he delay to 30 seconds the code looks like this:
**61*8123456*30#

I write the code on the idle screen like when I'm placing a call, and then press Yes.

This code is the GSM default, so it should work on all networks.

I'm with UK VODA as well. I've got the system to send me an SMS whenever someone leaves me voicemail. In the SMS it tells me what my voicemail number is.

Alternately you can always call up their customer services to find out.
