I am considering a full-time switch to Linux. However, the thought of not being able to connect my phone to my Linux system makes me think twice.
What software could I use so that I can access my phone's contents when I'm running Linux?
I am aware that Nokia has gnokii, which is why I'm hoping that anything similar may available for my K750i.

Anyway, I was able to make a workaround to my problem. Using the usb-storage module I was able to make my phone act as a flash drive. From there on, all data I need to transfer to my phone goes through the memory stick. Data to be saved outside the phone also goes through the memory stick.

because SE mobiles have a modem included you can try this if you want to send sms or use the phonebook... it should also work with bluetooth through emulating a comport...

a while back I remember bringing this issue up and finding a sync and file transfer solution for P800. This was when I was just getting started on Linux, so I was afraid to try it out. I never tried if it would work with my P910.
You have gotten me interested again. It might be nice to connect my P910 to my Linux computer.

that seems really similar to the link I was talking about. Unfortunately that relates to a different distribution and desktop than I have.
I am running Fedora Core which uses Gnome. I am sure there is some similarity between the kernels, but the GUI is completely incompatible.
Anyone have info for Gnome users?

If you're not 100% confident with Linux this might seem pretty scary, indeed some of it is a bit unnecessarily complicated (you can avoid having to run Bind by using Dnsmasq and an entry in your /etc/hosts).
I've done it a slightly different way, but the end result is that I sync contacts, calendar and todo, as well as use my DSL network connection from the phone over bluetooth.
I haven't really got time to give a lengthy tutorial here, but if you follow the instructions linked above and have some specific questions, post them and I'll do my best to help.

I use my k750i with the usb that came with it or infrared or bluetooth. I can browse it with bluetooth with the kde bluetooth. Oh ya and if u are using GNOME, then you should get the bluetooth utils, i forgot wat its called but do a "apt-cache search bluetooth" and get that package or if you are using an rpm based distro then just get it of an rpm site. If u right click on a file it doesnt show anything that sas send via bluetooth then press open with different app ( something like that :// ) and type in "gnome-obex-send" and it will open up a window which will search for devices. And if you are using GNOME and u want to receive make sure you are running "gnome-obex-server" or other devices wont find you.
And if you are using Pxxx then use what zuccster said but if you are using K750i or something like that then use multisync
thats about it ...
