G'Day all,

I have gotten my P910i to sync with outlook over Bluetooth. Apart from that %&$*$*%ing box asking me to allow access to my outlook address book every time, it works most of the time.

The other times - bizarrely for days on end - it just won't sync. It sees the phone, connects, the synch starts, the usual box pops up "Synchronization in progress" and it sits there with the animation and the status of all the items remaining at "Synchronisation not started".

Next weird thing, I thought I'd download the latest PC Suite, only to be told that version 3.1.1 is older than my installed 3.2.0 (came with the phone on CD).

Oh, things I've tried after scouring the web for hints: Reinstalled everything, made sure outlook is the default email client, it is not in offline mode, countless reboots, synching only calendar / only addressboook... this thing is driving me nuts!

Any ideas would be appreciated....

Mine waits for me to give it permission/access for x number of minutes. This maybe because I have a firewall.

That's the box I was talking about - it's Outlook asking your permission for another program to access the addressbook.
This may well be the problem - the behaviour is as if it's waiting for me to allow access, but I don't get te popup (yes, I've made sure the box isn't hidden behind other windows).

Odd - the "permission pop up box" doesn't appear at all?

What about synchronising from the cradle, which (being faster, more stable and more accurate) is preferable to bluetooth?

Yep, it's exactly as if a missin permission popup is the problem.
I use bluetooth because I'm on the road a lot, have found it surprisingly fast and stable once connected though. I tried the cradle too, same thing.

It hasn't worked since Wednesday, messed around with it last night, still no joy. This morning (Sunday) it magically works again..... The only thing that did happen was that the laptop went into standby... hmm... or else I'm going completely insane. Obviously I can't test anything else until it goes bonkers in another week or so.

Thanks for your input.

Well, no harm in admitting it!

Hope it works okay from now on....

...alas, it's just died again. I have changed absolutely no settings.

Yes, it might be a standby problem.
Try running SERestarter to see it if fixes the problem.

What or where is SERestarter? Can't find it in the menu or on the disk.
PC has been rebooted a few times whilst trying, so I don't think it's to do with standby.

... hold that thought. 'Restart' prompted me into a desperate act: I thought I'd reboot my phone and hey presto it works again. So hopefully that is the answer

Thanks to all for the replies.
