I've owned various Nokia phones, and I have a Sony Ericsson Z600 and P910i.

What can I say? If my first Sony Ericsson was the P910i, I'd say that SE and their phones are utter ***** – But that's hardly surprising when you take into account how my P910i has been acting, and how I've been fobbed off by customer service despite paying nearly €1,000 for the damn thing.

I was also going to get the K750i, but I've certainly decided that's a no-no. It costs €500, and after reading how many problems everyone else has been having, I've no doubt I'll have loads too – and the way SE treats their customers, it's not worth it.

What problems are there with my P910i?

Well, firstly a problem when reading text messages. I click on one message, but it opens the one above. This can get somewhat annoying, although isn't the end of the world – especially when SE just said “Oh, it's not a problem, just remember to click the one below”.

Now, the phone doesn't work at all. There's a white screen – I cannot even switch off by holding the off button. It just doesn't work. The only way is to take out the battery. I haven't even bothered to phone SE yet because my experience with them has been FAR LESS than satisfactory.
It said there was some error 11 - I've no idea what that is though. And taking out the battery, waiting a while, putting it back in and restarting doesn't help.

So I thought I'd try out here on the boards.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

change your firmware, recalibrate your screen, remove any dubious recently installed software...
The P910 is a great phone.

Ok,

Well thanks for the replies everyone. I decided to go and update the firmware, and so far everything seems to be alright - touch wood!

But, the problem is I cannot restore a backup I made. Before updating the firmware, I backed up all the contents of my phone which amounts to 7MB... but now I cannot restore it.

It says "NOT CONNECTED" despite being connected. I can do everything else - synchronise, install software, etc. - but not restore my backup.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

This happened to me when I updated the firmware. I rebooted leaving the syncstation plugged in and it worked upon restart. Bizarre, but the phone has been solid as a rock since the update.
