I have recently purchased a Sony Ericcson P910i from recommendations from many people saying it was an aweome phone.

I have had it just over 3 weeks and I have noticed that the battery life is not that good, especially when using Bluetooth. I have recently purchased a GPS (Satnav) for it from Route 66 (www.66.com), it uses Bluetooth GPS receiver. I tested this the other day I had a FULL BATTERY (left it charging overnight).. I then turned on my SATNAV device and loaded the software and went on my way.. After about 25-30 miles (+/-25mins) the battery had gone from FULL to 3/4 and then on the journey back, (same time) it dropped to less than half.

Is this correct ? Or is there a fault on the phone ?

No fault with phone...Bluetooth, if constantly active ( not just switched on...but active) tends to be a battery eater....you might want to have a spare battery handy, if you are going to be using the BT GPS a lot

Alternatively, if this is in a car, get the sony ericsson cigarette lighter power adaptor. One end plugs in your car's lighter socket, and the other end plugs in your p9xx.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are just like that - battery eaters.
Doesn't matter wich phone you choose.

In my car I've installed a car holder

that connects directly to a handsfree and a cigarette lighter adapter.

It's great because I can keep everything connected and the moment I place the phone in the car holder, the phone starts charging and recognizes the handsfree.

Thanks for the repsonse(s). Yes I have now purchased a car kit that I am using for the SE 910i. It is wonderful and the phone is constantly charging now.

Do you think the HCH-37 would work if the p910i had a silcone skin/jacket protector on?

It adds about 2-3mm around each edge.

Thanks.

I doubt it! The phone is quite "snug" in the holder - I have to take my case off = Piel Frama = http://www.pielframa.net/prodi.asp?ID=510
Does the silicone leave the "indent" on the top of the phone clear? That is part of the catch for the phone in the holder.

I also doubt it will fit.
The holder has a holding/release mecanism that works great and is easy to use, but does not seem leave space for anything else.

Hi Gyre,

One question i want to ask.

For the HCH-37, does it come with the charging cable and the mounting part, or just the "holder" connecting to the P910 only?

If there is a mounting part, how does it connected to your car? Is there any drilling to the dash board involved?

Sorry about my many questions. Just that I always wanted to get one, but I couldn't picture how it's going to be installed on my car.

Nope, the indent is covered. I guess that rules out the p910i-specific holders. I'd better start looking for the variable-sized ones.

Thanks folks.
