SE phones are great... except for the JOYSTICK!
At least this is true for those phones with 8 directional sticks.
Once owned a t68i and t610, never had problem with the stick despite of more than 6 months use each. These phones are only equipped with 4 directional sticks.
Owned a k500 for 4 months. Crap joystick. Started being totally unresponsive after 2 months. Owned a k700 and 3 months later the stick became dead too...
In the future, will no longer buy any SE w/ joystick. next target w550!

I treat my phones as carefully as possible (never ever dropped any of my phones) and I treat them with as much care as is possible with daily usage. All of my previous SE phones have had knackered joysticks, they just got to the point where you had to press them really hard before they responded. My t68i lasted a year while with the T630 I changed tactics, with this I tried to preserve (something which you shouldn't need to do!) the stick by never using it while gaming and it still shonked out after about 15 months

. Of course i've had no problems with the K750i yet and this time i've got this little blower thing to try and get all the dust out of the huge gap around the stick, must be clogging it up or something?.
I don't want to be forced to upgrade my phone after a year!, or at least if I do I expect to be able to sell the thing for a decent price.

Well, part of the reason is dust. My

T300 had that problem once, brought it to a service center and the guy there opened it up cleaned off all the dust from around the joystick and the phone worked fine. Still going strong after more than a year now

yeah joysticks definitely cause more problems than individual buttons for directions. like nokia hardly uses joysticks... but i like the feel and stuff of joysticks, it's just that they leave a big hole for dust to enter and also get unresponsive after a while.

i dont know. maybe im lucky.. i dont wanna push my luck by talkin about it too much...
but i treat my phones quite badly.
i drop them quite often. but have never had problems with the joystick.
maybe dust is the real problem...

A mate had a similar prob with her SE, sent it to Voda repair centre, came back just as bad. After a huge tiff they eventually replaced her phone... Maybe you should make some noise...

Same here. All my of my Sony Ericssons have been well looked after. My Panasonic with the joystick on the other hand, was well looked after but dropped numerous times - mainly in a drunken state - and so far, the joystick works perfectly after more abuse and use than any of my Sony Ericssons.
