On the way back from LA recently, I had my bt GPS unit in my hand luggage. Unfortunately it has a big button on the front to turn it on/off and this had got pressed in my bag, so when I went to get a book out, there was this blue light flashing away. Amazingly, the plane didn't crash.

Anyway, I would also like to be able to disable only the phone function of my P910i, leaving bt on. When I'm using GPS in the car, I have the phone in a holder on the dash, but every time it handshakes with a GSM base station, it really interferes with the radio. This is very annoying.

Nowt stupid in the thread so far.
There has indeed been a case of an aircraft being diverted due to fire warning caused by a cellphone. It was a saab and the cargo hold fire warning was triggered. Unusual, but not unheard of.
Back to topic tho, a firmware mod could create a PDA mode, with cellphone off and BT on. Maybe one for DaVinci team?

I was thinking: what if I set my Pee to ignore all calls? That way I wouldn't get bothered by all those pesky callers when I'm working, but the phone part would still suck juice out of my battery. Is there a way to make that battery drain as little as possible?

Everybody seems to assume that my intent is to disable airoplanes by connivingly flooding them with RF-waves; I merely want to do some quiet writing in the forest.

In any case, the battery drain problem should be resolved soon: I ordered one of those AA-cell powered emergency chargers. That and my 2 spare batteries should keep my Pee going for a week in a tent...

I have a couple of deactivated SIMs lying around somewhere. I'll give one of those a go.
