I don't like "upgrades" per se, I would make backups on other harddrive, wipe the c: and install a fresh copy of XP Pro and SP2. Your computer will thank you for that

If you don't really need to tweak windows and have more admin tools and control, I don't recommend Pro (at least as a upgrade) as Vista is somehow close so I would wait to upgrade from XP Home to Vista instead of buying Pro now and in one year buy the new Vista.
