On my home network i have blocked all non-approved MAC addresses to access the network.
Plus i've setup a WEP PSK (Pre-Shared-Key), so no sniffing around can be made.

same here, also I have turned off the broadcast of my SSID so most won't even know there is a wireless network there

Best to read the instruction manual that came with the router.
That's what I did; plus some help on specifics from Cycovision.
