Thanks. This was even outside, so it was not an ariel problem. Also I have had TomTom in various guises and never had a problem in getting a signal.
This whole Route 66 program just didn't seem friendly enough anyway.

Are you sure you were not *holding* the GPS in your hand while trying to acquire the signal?

BT GPS without external antena generally can't be in your hand to work properly. We (carbon-based beings) shield the signal !!

A good point but I put it on a windowsill and left it there whilst I held the phone.
It was strange because I got the signal (or the machine was blinking the right combination of lights) and then when the phone tried to connect by bluetooth, the finding of the device in the program seemed to upset the signal and I could not regain it. As I said, I am waiting delivery of TomTom Mobile 5 for the P910i and hopefuly that will sort out the problem.

But can I suggest you next time time don't do the same mistake and buy a GPS with --> SiRF-Star-III chipset It's the best to get a good signal !
