At the moment the 6680 is possibly the best Symbian phone around. Regarding applications for newer Symbian, not all are compatible, although most companies like Psiloc and SymbianWare are releasing apps specifically meant for the newer phones. Only reason why 6600 has so many apps available is because it's been around for a while. This message was posted from a Nokia

Biggest advantage is probably that Symbian will run most Java apps. It's a very flexible platform, has far greater variety of apps than Java as well, e.g. there are loads of streaming radio apps for Symbian, but i'm doubtful that Java has even one, no matter how nice some Java phones are. @Blue

The main difference is that Symbian is an operating system. Just as a PC needs windows, linux etc. to work, smartphones need an operating system too.

Java is what's known as an 'embedded platform'. It's actually a program that runs under an operating system (like symbian) or, in the case of non-smartphones, is embedded into the firmware and it allows other programs, written in java, to run. It's a bit like an emulator.

Currently, only SE's P series of phones use Symbian UIQ OS

I have heard that 6680 has a better camera than a 750i. Is it true? This message was posted from a Nokia

The comparative pix i've seen at gsmarena are rather convincing. Now, i haven't bothered looking at those taken by the 6680 mainly because taking pictures doesn't rate highly on my list of reasons for choosing Symbian, but i do know that as a rule SE take better pictures....
