As a matter of fact I do. I do, and that's for the lack of alternatives. Macs don't exist where I live. And I am not geek enough to ride on Linux

But then, my post was really within the context of an industry as diverse as the mobile phone industry. There are more than enough alternatives in this case.

You don't need to be a geek nowdays to use Linux. Just look at Xandros and Linspire. They also provide ways to run native Windows apps under Linux where necessary.

We really need to become more informed regarding our rights as consumers. Should you be within your rights and your side of the transaction is untainted, i can see no reason why you couldn't demand a replacement or refund. Unless you've agreed to certain exclusions, surely the consumer laws in your specific country should protect your right to satisfactory goods. We really need to emulate the Americans in this regard and insist on proper service, else we sue the companies concerned. It's the squeaking hinge on a gate which gets oiled, not the silent, unprotesting one.

Actually, that's another way of looking at it

So everytime your Windows crashes, you take the PC back to where you bought it from and get another one?

Why would mobile phone software be any different?

That's an easy one that I already answered a couple of posts back. Please check it up.

And for the benefit of those who are obviously becoming sarcastic in their responses, I did not say it was wrong to fuss over your beloved toys. I just said I find it amusing.

The phone is released. We goo "Ah, wow! Great!" jump on the next bus to go buy one and then spend the next 6 months jumping from one service centre to the other trying to get it work the way it was supposed to work.

Come on, people, that is amusing But it is only amusing to me because I am an innocent bystander It would not be amusing if I were to be the one jumping around looking for a fix!

It would seem like Nokia is better when it comes to quality control. I don't see much firmware releases from nokia which means not much bugs to fix unlike SE.

@arnan: I daresay you are courting trouble there You mentioned the forbidden name!! No; let's not go there, as nothing edifying ever came out of that angle (at least on Esato). Let's just poke fun at the cyclical ritual we put ourselves through with new phones.
