no way apple all the way, good idea joolsg4, i remember that happening to my ipod and i tried something on there and it got working again.

i used a stupid ipod updater that screwed it up.

I would try a differnt brand, but the problem is ipods are just so damn cool, the hardware is awsome (besides the scratching and used to be crap battery life) but the ipod is awsome ive had a few over the years and they are the best (sony nice hardware but crap systems and not great design).

@jools - thanks but ipods are probally the only apple product I can used well, and as soon as it buggered up I went through all my forums and articels on them looking for the fault, but its just completly messed up. It won't switch on, and when plugged into the mains pc/mac does nothing. What im going to try to do is get a refund from dabs, then buy the latest ipod video lol, or if that fails just get apple to fix it
