1.) have you tried configuring your SMS software to connect direct via IR?
2.) try installing StdGSMDriver.prc

I`ve a Sony Clie 610C, and I`m using the Monkey pak. I mean Monkey Messenger & Monkey Logo. Monkey Tone doesn`t work to inset a tone to the phone but you could send ringtones to nokias via SMS.

If you want to send Pictures or Ringtones to your T68 you should try the FunnyPhone.

Both programs work Really good with T68.
