what should come out for the p910 is an overclocking tool, it would work wonders if we can teak the cpus performnace in certain apps. They have this for clies and pdas why not p series phones.

Ahh, but when'd you buy it? When I bought my P910 it had a fairly up-to-date firmware on it.

The Orange p910's seem to run a lot slower than the others. This is from comparisons with friends' phones.

For those who own unbranded P910i, I suggest to stick to R4A10 firmware if you can cos it is the fastest among all firmwares released by SE. R5A02 is hell lot slower on my unbranded P910i Menus, borwsing speed of folders, installing/uninstalling of apps, and even when I quit an app it took up to 5 secs before it actually responded to my tapping on the screen!

I have a P910 since the first days. I have updated to the latest firmware.

90% of your speed problems seem to be related to:
(no special order)

- Too many apps running in the backgound
- Themes (most themes are awfully slow)
- How long has passed since you made your last master rest (and how many apps you have installed)
- Branding (Orange, etc)

and finally...
- Over-use of flip close flush of SMan !!!

---> Yes, some application SHOULD NOT BE FLUSHED - EVER !
Examples, are the application you mostly access.
Ex: Calendar, Messages, Jotter, etc.
And applications that need to be always running in the backgound. Ex: KeyMapper, DateMate, etc.

Tipo: Learn to add exceptions to the flip-close flush of SMan.

Hi LAU,

I think I have to rephrase my comment... okie, R5A02 firmware is immediately much slower since day 1 the moment I "upgraded" from R4A10. Yes, ie, w/o any apps installed, in plain vanilla upgraded form. Yes, I always format C: drive immediately after upgrading to a new firmware but still, R4A10 (after 3 months usage and loaded with tons of apps and games and themes, wallpapaer, etc) is still faster than R5A02's plain vanilla mode on my P910i... worse of all, I believe I am not alone that after R5A02 firmware upgrade, the phone will spontaneously prompts me "Insert SIM Card" out of no particular reason and when this happens, gotta reboot countless times before it reads my SIM card again... this ever happened in the middle of the nite while I was asleep and guess what... my alarm did not ring in the morning and I was late for work!

And oh, I never believe in backup/restore method, hence I always re-install all my apps and games from ground up after each firmware upgrade. Hence no fear of any conflicts/instalbility caused by restoring...

I am not sure, but I recalled P910a facing issues when SE first released R5 firmware and all P910a users who upgraded then were not able to find a network (SE eventually removed the firmware from their web site). These issues of R5A02 may only affect CDA 162005/6 users... but as a precaution, I feel the need to highlight this to all P910i owners.

Cheers
