because the unlock code 'NCK' (and also the others - unlock NSCK, unlock SPCK, unlock CCK, unlock PCK, unlock ECK, relock NCK, relock NSCK, relock SPCK, relock CCK, relock PCK, relock ECK) is not based just on imei & provider like in nokia. but with service cable it's possible to read out these codes and then type them to unlock (relock) the phone

it is possible that every phone that is sent out of the factory ahs it's codes already read from the phone, therefore they aren't calculated but bought out of a database which is why they need the imei to indentify it.

but thats just theory lol

The code is specific for "?". However, to get it from the operator you need to be customer for a certain period of time, your contract needs to be up or other requirements have to be met. You might be able to negotiate with the manager, if you are a good customer and there is no "flight risk".

You can unlock Sony Ericsson by code there are special databases for it

An example of one is the MMU server you login in via a web interface submit the imei of a phone u want to unlock and then wait for the code to arrive back with you.

You can see what I mean by using the test login for your self

You can also get codes from the operators themselfs these usually take up to 28 days and cost over £30 + VAT.

yes it can be unlocked by code, from your service provider or an online merchent, or it can be unlocked via cable, and software (Ie..wotanserver, davinciteam)
