This thread saved me from a lot of trouble while trying to update my P910 software using the sonyericsson update service. Thanks to everyone involved.

Question:
However, isn't there a way to download the required files first and then flash the phone later?

The update service starts downloading in the middle of the process and the download is taking too long . I have an average download speed of 24Kbps on my internet link.

after i installed the PC Suite and DSS Sync Station, an icon showed up in my system tray named 'Phone Connection Link'.

Right Click on that tray icon, a menu pops up.
Click on properties. A list will open.
uncheck 'USB'.
Check 'Cable'.
Click 'Close'.

This will do it. I just did this a couple of minutes ago . It works.

Hi there, I'm having some problem installing the update. Just when the instrctions shows I have to turn off the mobile, remove SIM and place batery again and mobile to the holder, it appears a message with: No deskstand connected!!

Why's that??? My deskstand (DSS-25) is properly connected. What can it be the problem??

------------------------------------------------

I think I got the same problem the fella up me.

Hi there, can anyone tell me what changes the update brought about.
My phone is working sooo well and I am petrified that the update will not really be worth the hassle.(crashes after updates seem to be the order of the day)
Also excluding data which one can back up, will i have to re-install apps? How about Internet, mail and BT settings?

I just dit it. Uncheck every box in the Phone Connection Link .
Such as usb, cable etc. But first u must make a backup of your phone. The phone is "empty" after used the SEUS. All settings are gone. U have to make new all settings like WAP, mail, mms etc. after installed new firmware. Itīs most like "format c:" on yr computer and install new windows. BUT, applications like Opera etc. were NOT away.
