IMHO it DOES have some 'slight' effect! We also have to consider the ff: here . . . .
1. Brand of the handset
2. Local Network in use
3. Battery make: original or replacement
4. Wear-and-Tear factor

thanks @reactivation, merely put into simpler terms what i thought you were trying to say. glad i got it right.
anyway, i just recalled that it does say in the user's manual that transmitting in areas with poor reception drains the battery more quickly. hence i think there has to be a connection between signal strength and battery level.

It would've certainly been nice to have had some facts to backup such a claim. I know that people reading these posts sometimes do have a general idea of the answer, but generally so do the people posting here - they post because they are after an absolute and correct answer. Often I'll have a vague idea of the answer I am seeking on this forum (and indeed in life!), but I'll still ask, for an informed confirmation.
It's not a problem to 'suppose' an answer in the interests of assisting, but perhaps just make note of this...
