Both operating systems r in their early stages of development regarding software.I think one should stick with what he has until the new OS' brings out what we need. This message was posted from a WAP device

I used to have P910 for about a year and prior to that was loyal SE user for 3 years.
But I got fed up with P910 synchronization problems, which seems almost every P910 user experiences. Has been trying to get it to work on three notebooks.. USB working, bluetooth doesn't, then one day USB stopped to work too. I paid $800 not for the countless hours of me trying to workaround SE's bugs...

To cut long story short, a month ago I got myself Windows 5.0 based phone. And I JUST LOVE IT, no sych. problems plenty of software is available. I'll never go back to the Symbian again.

Just my 2 cents

Regards,
Yury

Been synching P-series, T630, T68i, several Nokia's with several Mac's for years.

Has it occured to anyone that maybe "another" OS is at fault here?

I've owned the P800, P900, P910 and Nokia 9500 & 7710 and never had any sync problems. In my view Palms Hotsync is better than the new ActiveSync 4/4.1 as Activesync no longer incldues a back-up option! Also note, SE and Nokia have purchased a licence for M$ Activesync so we should have less problems in the future with syncing and we will finally get OTA syncing with Exchange Servers. For me the instability of WM5 is still an issue.

I find that instability nowadays is common on all platforms but likely related to firmware versions that need a replacement or with hardware issues that just resemble lemons, not the model just the individual product.

MS has made some great strides but the design is still buggin me. If MS was smart they wouldnt allow just HTC to dominant in products. Sure the odd HP PPCPE, or even Motorola (Mpx220/200/Q; the MPx/300 was cancelled), but there should be more. Looks like MS devices are falling into the Nokia trap of being the best/only logical HW Manufacturer for PPCE/PPC Smartphone devices. Not much choice except for color for a common design. Nokia with S60 needs to break more out of a bulky desing more sleek or svelte.

SE has got the goods. Also looks like the P990 will not just support BB Connect in the firmware but also in the BES support, pure business solution.!!!

@Prom1, this is 2005 not 1985! We have learnt a lot about how to engineer rock solid systems. We consumers pay money and we should not get faulty devices. My Nokia 6310 was rock solid, my Psion 5 was rock solid so why can't modern devices be rock solid. For a business person reliability and battery life are key. I have been impressed, for example, with XP when compared to say Win95. If M$ can make XP better M$ should be able to make WM5 better than WinCE2.11!

It came to my attention, by reading this forum and others, that most of the WM users are generally pleased with the WM OS whereas most of the non-users are not ! Also is a pity SE can't sort out the stability problems with the P990 ! The cell has been envisaged/designed 1year ago (hence the somewhat outdated specs.) and we are still waiting for its release ! I think they should cancel the P990 and bring out the P1000 with specs more in line with 2006 This message was posted from a Nokia 7650

@mario2002

I use both WM5 and Symbian and I am unhappy that unlike SE HTC, the makers of the Universal, did NOT test it properly. It has many bugs. I am sorry I really can't agree with your view based on the fact that my US$1000 Universal has so many faults (at the moment it is being repaired). Even the P800, released in late 2001, did not have fundamental problems that WM5 has such a memory leakage. I repeat I use WM5 I am not just inventing this stuff. I would much rather wait 2/3 months longer and have a solid P990 (which by the way has specs that no other WM5 device can meet today!).
