As I've said before... I read that and all the posts / reviews / etc. I could find, along with every picture posted!

So, that's why I ask to post new pictures...

i know this aint a sample of a night club, but here goes my way of convincing you that the flash is a great add-on.

Hey! But it's not a nightclu...

Just kidding! Thanks for the example; please keep them coming. The MXE really seems to have improved your picture.

Two things:

1) did you have the night mode on for the second one too?

2) can you post a link so I could see it bigger and check the noise?

Thanks again mate

The maximum range of the MXE-60 written in the paper that came with the package is just 3-4 meters IIRC.

I bought mine for around $35.

This flash accessory can really give enough light to minimize the noise in a dark environment. The only disappointment I know you will have once you got one, it doesn't always accurately determine the amount of light needed for a scene. More often than not, it's not that bright enough.

If only SE gives us an option to manually set the light intensity of the flash, or a constant "ON" option.

BTW:

1) did you have the night mode on for the second one too?

** If the phone decides to light up the MXE-60, night mode won't have any effect. Because the phone always use a preset setting if it uses the MXE-60, I think it's ISO 200.

I also did a test before:

Scene: very dark room, only a faint light coming from the windows. I was taking a picture of the hanged painting in one wall about 2 meters away.

Setup A: No MXE-60, night mode on, white balance set to auto, flash on.

Setup B: With MXE-60, white balance set to auto, flash set to auto.

Observations:

1. Setup A is more susceptible to blur, since the exposure time is longer for night mode.

2. Both setups have almost the same level of noise. Setup B is just a little bit better.

3. Color accuracy. Setup A is somewhat yellowish. Setup B is more accurate.

Did you really took the first one using flash + night mode and got that BLACK picture? It kinda seems impossible, since it should be lighted a lot more!

Also... maybe you are messing up... you call "the first picture", but looking at the time stamps shows that the first picture tooked was the one you said was took with the MXE... wtf? :?

well, i actually took the first photo with the mxe-60 flash on, then later took the second photo with the built in flash on plus night mode, as you have seen in the time stamp.

Another question that cross my mind...

How does the flash come off? I mean... like in digicams where there is a "previous" burst of lights at less intensity, or it only comes out once, at full?

Thanks

Only once, at full.

When you press the camera button and the phone starts autofocusing, phone LED turns on to assist the auto-focus function. If you press the button fully (taking the shot), the phone LED turns off and MXE-60 lights up for a split second.
