it could well be your access number, i use aol and it wont let you on via your normal internet route, in the end i set up a penny a minute account with freeuk.com and using their access number my yahoo email works perfectly, except for the crappy speed! Oh i also do this for transmitting my communicam photos!!!

yes, if what ericsson told me is correct then it seems everything rests on whether the modem on the end of your access number can understand the T68 modem. Ericsson didn't indicate that they were planning on fixing anything.

Here's a general tip for those having problems connecting their T68 to POP/SMTP, and Internet.
1) Check with you provider the proper configuration for the GPRS data accounts. This is important.
2) Most providers use two (2) GPRS data accounts. One for "WAP over GPRS" and another for "GPRS Data". They usually have different configurations.
example: My provider's APN for WAP over GPRS is called "smart1". The APN for GPRS data is called "internet", and has a different DNS setting.
3) When configuring the email client, you must select the data account for GPRS Data, not the WAP over GPRS data account.
4) When accessing the Internet over GPRS, use the GPRS Data account. And you have to use the *proper* CID in the phone number when dialling.
example: *99***2# (the 2 indicates CID=2 which is my GPRS Data account. CID=1 is the WAP over GPRS account and will not work for this purpose)

OK got things sort of sorted out.
First of all, I am not (never have) been attemting to use GPRS, so I'm trying to use straight forward ip over GSM data.
Based on what /// told me about the modem, I set data account "dial type" to Analogue, and finally found an ISP modem that would talk to me (ukonline, MANY others would not). Next, find an e-mail server that would talk once logged onto the net via ukonline (ukonline's own server would not) This turned out to be Compuserve.
So, I use WAP access through Genie to browse the web. And (slow) GSM data to access Ukonline to retrieve compuserve pop3 mail.
Not perfect, but it works at my current location. Change country and I guess it'll stop working again.
Bottom line is that Ericsson needs to get the problem with their modem sorted out !

Brisefer > my email is running perfectly.
BUT I cant use yahoo here in Denmark,..the danish part of Yahoo doesnt support pop3.
The US-yahoo.com supports it, but I'm not to sure that any of the other yahoo-countries do.
Try, when your're in yahoo.email, to look for the "options". If you have an option called "enable pop3", then your yahoo support it.
The danish yahoo doesnt have this option.

Hello jh67,
I don't have any problems now with my Yahoo account.
Now, I have a new acces to DATA GPRS and not WAP GPRS.
And in Yahoo FRANCE(FR), there is the pop3 access.
See you...

I've found with every ISP I've tried, using both GPRS and CSD dial ups for email, that as long as you use the IP address of the mail server you are trying to access, rather than the name, that it works fine. Receiving email in this way should be no problem, sending should be fine as long as you are connecting through the same ISP that provides your email or you use the outgoing server of the ISP you connect through.
P.S., I've tried Vizzavi, Btinternet, Tesco, Lineone and Tiny.
