Nope, self-taught! I'm hopeless with software problems though.
Are you the same as me Luke, getting a buzz out of fixing something, were you self-taught too?

lol, i cant believe you lot.
I have around £2500 at the moment.
i leave myself £80 a week if i want to buy anything e.g. FOOD
When a new phone comes out, i dont run to buy it. dont get tempted by false needs.
Ill be needing £2500 to buy a car. So atm the £2500 is all capital to buy stuff and sell on.

@ sammy - yep im self taught, ever since I was young I was good with my hands and have a spacialisic mind which apparently is great for this kinda thing. I think I picked it up when I was about 15, but ever since then I have found it a very easy way to make money and allows me to buy whatever I want as I find I just about always come out on top. But I do not limit this to just phones I have dieversified into all kinds of mobile technology, laptops mp3 players etc and now im 17 making a very healthy income of somee myage.
@ brownlad - I really don't get your point, I buy whatever the hell I like, I have found there is nothing I want that I can't afford, I can use my mums car so don't need my own and its not very practical as im off to uni this year. But Im not sure your getting me, I have a fre G's I have lying around doing nothing I call this money fun money as it funds this particualr hobby of mine, its not to be spent on trivial items such as cars etc.
Recently I find I have found a very good supplier for my hobb, but he only sells mp3 players etc hence why I have bought 60 of them over the last 2 weeks lol
and yes, theres nothing like buying something and making it work again

I see where your coming from luke, I got kinda the same problem, but then I guess don't we all. But thing is, I won't buy it unless there's profit in it, which i think you also do, in the long run it always works out, but there can be doubt when you see how much is going out, and the bank balance going quite low.
I used to only play around with a few hundred on making money, and always have say 4/5k spare, I dunno i guess for uni etc.
But life's short, and hey, it's only money... so now i keep no spare and go for it with everything, and have had no problems and don't regret it

I think Brownlad wants us to be more prudent when spending money . . . priorities first before 'hobby' . . .

yeh of course I look for potential profit, lets face it why else would I have bought your p910i, if I can fix it I can make 20-30 quid? thats enough for a hours work i recon.
I see your point though I myself used to invest a about 500, now I invest anything up to aout 5000 at a time, but it will depend on how much space I have left lol.
last night I sold a laptop that I bought for 480 (faulty), sold it for 670 + 40 - selling fees = 210 profit and I ket the lush samsonite case it came in for my powerbook, those are the kind of deals I like, but I did buy a w550i for 147, it sold for 127 (not including paypal and ebay fees which prob loswes it down by another 10-15 quid) out of my 2 years experince I think that is my biggest loss lol, and the main reason was becaue the auction wet bad and had it for 3 months though never used it, o and I nicked the hedphones and stuck them for sale on esato - still not sold by the way
I recon there are quite a few of us here which use these kind of methods for potential profit and to get a bit of cash.
@ sammy - hows your w800i idea going?

@luke - I guess we surely CANNOT earn profit if we buy brand new handsets then sell it afterwards, say, a little over a week's time . . . that's why it's ideal to go with 2nd hand units.
