i got a pretty decent pc if ur interested, I want to change to a laptop, its not the most up to date one, but it has a fair gfx card etc
the specs I know - 768 ram, 40gb hd a extra 10gb one as well, 15 inch tft screen, wireless mouse and keyboard, 1.7ghz (I think) about 8 -10 usb 2.0 ports, varible speed fan (wth controller), u dvd rom and a cd-rw etc and has some other spec I can't renember. Can get them fo ou though I don't really use it much anymore as I ave a powerbook whichis to good not to use.
Im not going to say its the best you could get, but its served me well and is fast enough for most users even plays games like halo well, but id happily sell it for round 300 or what not

@luke- id love to, i dunno if i told you or someone else though, its my dad buying this and he's
real paranoid about buying off the internet. Personally i'd trust ya.
Ive looked through dell, some good ones. Ive also looked through some stuff like froogle. The best thing i can think of is possibly buy the one cycovision said on 2nd post, and buy better stuff seperatly when i have the money. My friend said that its cheaper to buy everything separetly (like motherboard and ram etc...) he's got a good computer and his was £400.
Oh and thanks for all the help so far

Fair point, but it only applies to the base unit. It's the TFT monitor that pushes the price up when buying a PC sytem, which is where Dell come in. They actually sell their systems at a slight loss, which means that even if you built your own base unit, by the time you've bought the monitor, keyboard and mouse, you'll still end up paying about the same or even more.
Dell make their money through the sale of extended warranties and by charging extortionate ammounts for spare parts. They're clever buggers, some Dell machines will only take Dell branded memory, which costs about £30 more than normal memory. Their power supplies are different, and again cost about £30 more. Even the case fans are a non standard size and cost, guess what? About £30 more...
