in general

phones have middle to low SAR ratings but what I don't understand is why US versions have much higher SAR ratings.
take the P910i for example, which has a SAR rating of 0.88 according to the
SAR information leaflet whereas the P910a has 1.50 according to its
SAR information leaflet
both are FCC results
same for S700i which is .73 whereas S700a is 1.50
Z520i is 0.962 whereas Z520a is 1.47
etc etc
very strange

@masseur, could it be because of the 850 band which is absent in europe?

thats about the only reason I can come up with though I have no idea if operating on the 850 band requires more power output than the other bands... just guess work for me really

I always thought lower frequency bands required less power to cover the same area as higher frequency bands?
Is it possible that the US allows higher SAR ratings, hence power output increased on US phones by manufacturers to provide better reception?

I was always led to belive it is the other wat around with SAR levels. 1800 uses less SAR then 900, as the levels I have for different phones always show lower SAR for the 1900 and 1800 networks.

So then...
If the phone gives out radiation does that mean it glows in the dark so I can find it when it is on silent mode????

You are probably right. There could be any number of explanations.
