just because its a new phone,it doesnt mean that the specs have to match/beat phones that have come out before it.
Samsung are just filling spaces in the market, so no matter what the customers needs,theres probably a Samsung out there that fits

but surely they would be respected more greatly for creating genuine boundry pushing phones rather than trying to get as much profit out of the market as possible by simply flooding it with, in my opinion , un needed phones.

As for the case of the d800, i can't see why they woudl want to downgrade a run of phones...ie d500 d600 d800...the d800 should be the best...but as we have seen, samsung once again confusing us.

The majority of samsung flips these days look almost identical as well, its crazy how many models they have now

@arj,
it's because you are thinking that the larger the number the better the model.

Samsung's logic is, the newer the model the higher the number.
The D800 is infact a D600 with a D500's cam, but with the D600's capabilities. It's very slim. And the slimmer a phone is, the harder it is to
cram everything in. (note the RAZR)

Also, they jumped leaving the D700 space open, perhaps to satisfy people like you that believe the bigger the number, the better the phone.

isn't the 6600 more advanced than the 6610? isn't the k610 more advanced than the k750? these examples were only to emphasis my point that higher #s mean nothing. let's not start a samsung v/s se v/s nokia thing. atleast samsung is releasing phones unlike se & nokia who seem to be only announcing phones.

ah rite , no i wasnt reeli getting at the higher the number the better the phone, more on the idea that, the sequence, as released, was d500, d600 then d800...surely the d800 is a step back in time from the d600??

Do you get me? just forget the numbers,, i was just suprised a newer phone in a series is not as well spec'd as lower models.

well they called it a D because it's a slider and perhaps the D- series is more well known.
But its basically a totally new phone since it's a slider but it's also razr thin.

Yup, number doesn't mean everything . . . just like with the T610 and T630 / P900 and P910i which have 'almost' the same specs and LOOKS . . . . I like though the covers on the D800, specially with the metal 'looking' sidings on the front !
