I think that it will work on all networks except sprint (not sure, but they don't use SIM cards).
I'm hoping that they offer it with contract at Cingular so it will only be like @250 instead of $500

@masseur - the other network that uses the 1800 mhz band is T-Mobile in the UK. Also Virgin do, as they use T-Mobile's network. As a result, if you have a sim-locked T-Mobile or Virgin phone, a sim from the other network (e.g. Virgin sim in T-mobile phone) will work in it

yeah, thats now, but I was talking about back in the days when dual band first started and networks like cellnet were around.
I recalled that at that time there were 2 networks on 1800mhz and 2 on 900mhz in UK but couldn't remember the second one on 1800mhz other than orange
was it one2one or something similar? anyway, its not important but if you can remember it might be interesting

Yes, it was one2one, which became T-Mobile. In fact, if you buy an old enough phone and stick a T-Mobile sim in it, it will display one2one on the display!

but ofcourse, for the w810 to work it has to be a gsm network. i have never had a cdma/tdma connection, nor would i ever.

I'm not sure about edge but GPRS is carried on the same GSM frequency that you are connected to your network on
EDGE uses the GSM frequencies as well, so in most cases the network providers just have to do a software upgrade on their GSM network in order to be able to use EDGE.
