Agree Doctor..I agree..!

Maybe Sony Also gave more money in the partnership..Ericsson was going in Losses in their Handset Business....However they are still one of the leading suppliers of GSM equipment in the world along with Nokia/Alcatel/Nortel etc

For the record, Sony Ericsson is a 50:50 joint venture of Sony Corporation and Ericsson AB and was established in October 2001.

I found out that Sony also had a joint venture agreement with Qualcomm to manufacture mobile phones for the North American market in the late '90s. The result, however, was very different. After product delays, quality problems and slow sales, Sony was forced to close its U.S. handset operations and accept a loss topping a billion dollars.
