> Bloody K750i joystick!

Yeah bloody "joy"stick. I went to my local service centre about 3 weeks back and asked them to clean it since opening it would void the warranty. They told me they can't clean it and would need to replace the whole joystick instead. Then they told me to come back in a few weeks time because they've ran out of stock for K750i joysticks...
Joy indeed !

I have replaced my phone 4th time for the same joystick issue and they usually take 2 weeks of my time.

I love the phone, but the joystick is a constant frustration, sometimes requiring brute force and sore fingers, other times working perfectly!
It seems at the moment, however, as if the latest firmware update might have fixed it!

I dont think firmware will fix hardware issues
Perhaps you just dislodged the dust or grit that was causing the problem.
Sidenote: I have had k750i since november and (touch wood) no problems at all. Its under heavy usage too

ive once again discovered why the joystick can be better then a d-pad
hmmm... that was my belief before, but since using an S700i, my belief changed...

the only time i use my joystick is when browsing files and phone book. i usually use keypads to go around the phone and joystick for submenus
yes, i must say that was what i used to do when i had joystick-featured phones. it kind of "prolongs" your joystick life... i recommend you do the same to your joysticks on your phones...

everyonce in a while my joy scrubs out, then I rotate the joystick around in a circle about 20 times quickly with force (not too much force, just more than normal use), and then find I get another few weeks out of it before I need to do it again.
I don't know about wd40, I'd be more inclined to use isopropyul alcohol in a spray pack - since isopropyl alcohol evaporates without leaving a residue (but don't let the isopropyl on the external casing - it can smudge certain paints and certain plastics - and shield the rest of the phone when you spray the joystick). The WD40 will leave a sticky residue that actually attracts dust - so once you start using the wd40 the problem will occur more frequently.

My joystick's 'left' and 'up' controls are gone, but heres why its not a hardware problem..
(a) It works in games fine, except the up direction will go up AND right. Left works fine
(b) when the phones light goes off, if i press left or up on the joystick (careful not to press 'enter') the light will come back on, or the locked keys dialog comes up.
So, I believe there is a software/firmware problem on my phone, didnt fix it with the new firmware, I wish SEUS allowed downgrading to the older ones. At this point I would be happy with my original firmware, before the USB bug and this most annoying of problems!

In 2002 my Dad got himself a Nokia 7650 and he used it for 18 to 20 months and even the day he sold the handset the joystick worked just as new.I have decided I am never gonna buy a SE which has a joypad.
