If you have GPRS Class 10, then you can get more than 40 kbps speed.

Yes I can get the full GSM GPRS (non-edge) 44Kbps.

But it's not the speed I'm worried about, it's the cost. At 2c per Kilobyte, it will cost about $6-10 to download ONE graphical webpage. I'll have to disable pictures when browsing, and set IE to NEVER refresh pages - and only refresh when I need to check the site for changes.

It's going to be interesting!
