Sounds like you powered it off and took the battery out pretty soon after the accident. The sooner you do something like that, the better the prognosis. If you hadn't, the phone may well have worked for about a week or so, then either start playing up or just turn off and never turn back on as the corrosion took effect.

The best way to save your phone is to insert the mainboard and all electronics in container filled with alcohol and leave it for couple of hours. Then wash it with destilated water and leave to dry for few days or if u're very impatient, dry it using hair dryer. I save in that way few mobiles:) Good luck:)

Hey, I'm sorry to hear all this but at least your situation is better than the boy who said he "flushed it down the toilet". Nevertheless, he has an easy way out by not expecting a miracle since his phone is gone eternal.
All the comments are helpful here, but from my experience, that phone is already in a deep coma, and will temporarily revive (perchance) to make matters worse in the long run.

if it was switched on when you put it in the wash, its DEAD. if it was off before hand you might be lucky if you dry it out.

My friends mother just got her T237 in water (by accident) she didn't know anything about having to take it apart and dry, so she turned it on and it didn't work. so my friend brought it to me, the I dissarmed it,took the keyboard out and saw that in the conector pins there was something liquid, like green mosture, so I rubbed that out with toilet paper
and then rubbed other things that looked wet. after that the phone turned on normally.

It may work but something has to go wrong in it, either the battery will drain very quickly, or some keys just don't respond as expected or it won't charge... (this is my past experience, I had my camera, err,... phone and watch in water or saliva (I have a 1 year old baby) and all worked after a careful drying, but they didn't work perfectly afterwards).
People do buy broken/semi-broken/semi-working phones for parts/repair. So, your phone still has a price when it's still hot in the market. And use the money to buy a new one
