orange provided you with the phone so send it back to them. get it back from ACR and send it to orange with a letter explaining what has happened. Say that you are not at all happy and you are concerned as to how it has occured. Inform them that as the phone is within warranty you wish for it to be replaced as it is faulty. Say you will only accept a replacement not a repair as you have found out the phone appears to be second hand with previous damage and you have paid for a new unit. It is orange's job to make sure you get the new phone, and then it is orange's job to argue with sony over who is to blame not yours. Just basically talk about how dissapointed you are etc etc and how you dont see why you should have to be going through all of this just to get a phone that works...
lets us know how it goes.

I couldnt agree more with WelshTom, its Orange's fault since the phone came from them.
Operators are notorious for completely lying to customers, especially Orange and T-Mobile.

I'd be checking the sales of goods act if i were you relating to mobile phohnes and not just general goods, you might be in for a shock.
Orange outisde 6months are under no obligation to exhance the handset.

No, but they are bound by the usual 12 month warranty. Even though its the manufacturers warranty, its Orange that have to take the phone in for repair, usually.
