@VRL29, I got ur qn.

I don't have the mic added in yet, and to talk to someone, i need to take the cable off. As of now, I can only hear the caller thru my earphones, but he can't hear me thru the jack.

Technically it's less than a minute's work and very much possible to embed a mic in the jack. There are 5 wires in all, of which 3 are used for the stereo/earpiece, and the remaining 2 wires that are unused, are for the mic. The mic is also there with me and all I need to do is to solder them on to the wires - and it's done.

There are some qns in my mind though:

* Where is the mic in this thing? It's the original accessory offered for sale on some website.

* Where exactly is the mic of the HPM-70? Is it inside the pod where the 3.5 pin is connected? But that's so far from my mouth and very close to the phone, right?

* If the mic will be so far from my mouth, how will my voice reach the mic? How is it in the real HPM-70?

* So if the mic is embedded in the jack, i have to keep the phone in my shirt pockets at all times and can never keep the jack and the phone in my pant pockets, right?

I haven't actually seen the HPM-70's layout. Does anyone have a detailed diagram/pic? W800 user please post some detailed images.
Also, anyone having the original accessory (the one inthe pic shown) may kindly shed some light on the layout of their device.

Thanks & Regards
BG

yes, the mic is in the jack itself (if you'll see the pic, there is a vertical hole near the "walkman" logo). my GF has a W550, and i've seen the cable with the mic itself...

as for your query, you have a point there... since the mic is "far from your mouth, how can the caller hear you if the mic is in your pocket? that's also one of my questions in the said design, and my "observation" on the matter is that have strong microphones; they can capture sounds that are at least a feet away(at least that's what i noticed when i'm on a call)...
