with my toshiba it's fn and F6 for brightness down.

Look at your keyboard and you should an icon of an arrow down and a sun.

Click start, run, type in cmd and press enter. In the black window, type in ipconfig /all. The numbers and letters next to 'physical address' is the same as the mac address.

Bear in mind that it's possible to have more than one mac address, for example if you have a wireless adaptor as well as a standard network port.
