lol, but i think that's DEFINATELY not the case. I'm sure there must be a log of changes on the system at SE. Just that they don't release it.

I've seen somewhere changelog for K700 firmware, if i'm not mistaked an old one, like R2AA033
in fact, there's not much useful info for ordinary customer
knowing that something was increased up to several millivolts or routine was rewritten in order to get rid of one of million cases bug - that won't make me sleep better

look at piece of camera driver changelog in K750/W800/W810:
very interesting?

// Clara camera driver setup file

//
// 4.4 cam_sync_ss=f added again and power save mode modified
// cam_ss_sync_9=7 added
//
// **********************2005-05-31****************************************
//
// 4.3 cam_sync_ss=f deleted due to conflict with power save mode
// cam_ss_sync_9=7 deleted snd cam_ss_sync=7 inserted
//
//
//
// **********************2005-05-20****************************************
//
// 4.2 Q-value and EXIF Flash readout exchange orders

used to have a page within the original P900 and P910 online update pages which showed release notes, although often the release notes were posted there a week or more after the firmware was available

here's an example I just dug up

Hm,it sounds 'very technical' then and surely,the change log is intended to be understood by developers/programmers who understand what they exactly mean..sorry for being a newbie-how do we find this change log release note? By a special tool? Is it informed somewhere?

I think that what the poster meant and what SE should release, it's not the technical IT departement log, but it SHOULD release a end-user understandable in "common writing" of the changes. Example:

R1BC002
-----------

- Improved camera blah blah
- Fixes USB problems that may be present it previous firmware
...
...

You know what I mean...

I'm going to say it's because SE have never made Firmware updates something public. Firmware updates have allways been something you get IF your phone messes up and you go to a service center about it.

Dude it is now a public thing. So they should be prividing official firmware overview.

Talking from a softwares development perspective you do a bug fixes you must have a list of bugs somewhere and before you can release anything you must make sure that you check that your bugs are fixed.

I may agree with you when you say they do have the fixed bug list, but they just don't release it. Maybe it is not in a format for public exposure.

Yeah, I agree it should be made public. Most people these days are tech savvy enough to be able to do a simple update on their phones. When people have to hand in their phones to a service centre, wait a few days for the phone to come back, it leaves them with a bid of a sour taste in their mouths about the manufacturer. Maybe we could take the example of the W550 white screen problem. Many may just not want to deal with SE again after having to send their phone in for servicing and finding out that all they needed was a 'software update'; somthing that could've easily been done at home which would have taken less time and effort. SE and other manufacturers should be putting more attention into this as right know, many consumers probably don't know what a firmware is, and if enough is put on its importance, then it may make it better for both sides, us and the manufacturer.
