slattery69's suggestion is a good one, go as a named driver, but just remember when you do want to be put down as the owner it still may cost quite alot.
Not sure how it works, does the insurance become cheaper later on if you have been a named driver for a couple of years or not?

just beware when youre a named driver as if you have an accident youre normally only covered third party....
Best thing to do is suck it up and pay the grand matey... that way (fingers crossed you'll have no crashes) and your insurance will go down next year.... im looking forward to this years quote... i will be 25 and have 5 years no claims - woohoo!

Yeah that is a good idea aswell, do that for a couple of years. Although my mum has been driving for years she has only owned a car for the last 4 years.
She started paying around £800 third party to start with now she is fully comprehensive with me insured fully aswell for like £300 a year. And i have never owned a car (been driving 2 1/2 years)
Being a women does have its advantages.

under my dad... had license for 9+yrs. no claims bonus of 7 years and protected. then me and bro as 2nd and 3rd drivers
