You'll find that there is a very simply reason for Pipex madness. I may very well be wrong, but I'd say that one of the targets they need to meet in order to justify the increase in bandwith is to reach a certain number of new connections. I.E. it looks better on end of quarter results to say that they signed on 10,000 "new" customers then to say that they signed on 3000 new customers and 7000 existing customers to the new 8mb.
Their computer system has prob been deliberatly designed so that you need to re subscribe as a new customer to get this new service!!!
This will make Pipex figures look great when viewed by shareholders.
It's silly but not unpracticed!

if your exchange is ready for ukonline. then aol isnt bad at 8mb for £29.99 with unlimited downloads as well.
if youve got a router you dont need to use any of there software which tends to be the bug bear with most people and aol.
been using there broadband for a bout a year without any problems, just never touch there sotware.

tiscali is looking good..
£17.99 a month for 8mb unlimited downloads.
subject to fair use..
any one know what their fair use policy is? ie how much?
i download/upload about 100/120gb a month and dont really want them to restrict my speeds!
cheers
