As I've mentioned before, the lack of a d-pad/joystick was the reason I never bought a P-series phone.

So the P990 being the first P-series phone with a D-pad is the reason for me to consider getting it.

I think may be a good idea for P900 owners to at least look at a P990 (when it is finally launched!) as the mix of the User Interface, the new hardware, updated version of Opera etc may as a complete package be more appealing while any single feature (e.g. Wi Fi) my not be compelling.

Have anyone thought about upgrading not to P990 but to the M600? This message was posted from a P910

if it now works with my BMW bluetooth kit, I'll buy one, if it doesn't, I'm off to a WindowsCE based smartphone (I am eagerly awaiting the P990 release to decided what phone I am upgrading to - I have already confirmation that the newest i-Mate smartphones all work perfectly with BMW OEM carkits)

I am tired of having 2 phones (P910 & T630), just because the P910 does not work OK with bluetooth handsfree OEM carkits and SE doesn't care about it...

just looked at the whitepaper and seemingly it now supports in BT all the profiles it needs to work OK with carkits, while the P910 was missing half of the ones needed...(object push, OBEX, handsfree & headset)

keeping my fingers crossed.........................................

word of warning.if you must better your p900, don't bother with the p905 conversion, as you're still lumbered with low ram.better get the p910 instaed.it's infinitely better.

I absolutely agree, I had a P900 upgraded to P905 and was constantly shutting down applications to get things running.

I sold it and bought a P910i - SOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!

The extra internal memory, both RAM and for Apps mean that I no longer have out of memory problems, I don't have to shut down apps and I can keep all my installed apps on the C: drive, keeping my 2GB MS free to store media on.

It was definately worth the extra cost.

I also plan on keeping my P910i for a while until the P990 drops in price and the worst bugs are ironed out.

However I might end up buying it because of Wifi, Camera, better mediaplayer and hopefully faster processor.

cheers
Peter

hi
i'm considering to go on but for a .. m600i
i dont need wifi, and i dont need camera.
but still waiting for a less buggy version and apps like magic profiles pro to be ported..
in fact my p910 is just perfect for what i do (except direct gmail connection) and i would go for a m600 only for size matter, so i think i'll wait a bit
good night

Is the P990 the only touch screen phone that has WiFi ... I mean among the SE?

Which other brands have similar features?

Upgrade your p900 to P905 - well worth it! - except that P910 is sooo much cheaper now... - It has got the horrible ugly chunky keypad though - it would be nice if you could change over the P900 cool blue keypad to the P910

I also fancy a P990 mainly for the camera, I don't like the fact that they have shrunk the screen size to make way for the keypad... BUT if I ever get round to trying one the extra features might persuade me

Re: P990 screen size

Well I am using the M600i which has a screen which is slightly smaller than the P990 and the screen is very usable so I assume the P990 screen should be okay
