If you cancel your contract early, do you have to give back the phone? I've recently joined orange and wanted to give my n80 back and exchange it for a w810i. My number was to be ported across from voda after a few days and I was advised to wait until that was over and then send the n80 back. When I later rang them they said that my number would be cancelled when I returned the n80 and I would have to take out a new number. Sounds like they wanted the number to be ported across so I would be bound to the 12 months. Not a great start with orange! I've been having a lot of problems with the n80 (and have reverted back to my excellent motoslvr) and these are the suggestions ive had from their staff to rectify them:
- Not to use my phone memory and only to use the memory stick (why have a phone memory then?
- Not to install any applications (doesnt that defeat the whole point of a symbian OS?)
- I've enquired about a firmware upgrade and they said that they can send and over the air sms update. I didn't know that this was possible and they later sent wap settings!
- I was asking why the sound quality was way off my slvr and why it kept on crashing. They replied that all smartphones crash- so I argued that do these manufacturers sacrifice stability and sound quality for these fancy phone pdf viewers and so on
- They also said that nokia were way better than SE and recommended against getting an SE! Cheeky devils.... In my experience its the other way round!
They seem so daft. I left CPW voda cos I thought their customer service people were incompetent. Looks like this lot are the same if not worse!

ive been with orange for years now.... When i asked to pay off my contract i was told this is not possible (utter crap - i could simply setup a new bank account... move teh remaining line rental in there and let it pay off teh contract ove rteh time left) - same thing right? Anyways.. orange really aint that bad... theyre fair and if you READ teh T&C you will know what charges are in place and why
Customer services are amazing in comparison to other networks.. especially 3......
With regard to teh N80 - i cant believe they said all that - get them to send it to you in writting mate... i sure if tehy actually said it and you get proof theres scope to complain because surely if a phone cannont be used in teh manner its suppost to be used then there must be some kind of compensation....

true, true
its wierd, i just feel safe with orange.. even tho teh contract offered to me wasnt 'as good' as teh T-mobile flext package... i felt they offered me a good enough deal to stay with them... they never let me down, although dont speak to my GF about orange... she has extremely different views
They totally ripped her off tbh, although in all fairness it was her fault
