Now I ran into the same trouble: the decive cancels the backup process as soon as it starts backing up 3rd party applications. I then deselected the 3rd party applications, but then it stopped while backing up the settings. Only when I deselect both the backup runs smoothly.

I also tried backing up the settings exclusively, but to no avail.

Damn, I only recently did a full re-flash of my phone and a master reset, too. I don't want to go through all the hassle again...

Could it be that some of the custom themes might screw up the phone?

try to remove the Duo card before you try to do a back-up

(just for thr record, been using my m600 for 6 weeks and P990 for 4 weeks and no backup/restore problems - and i have reflash a lot!)

I did remove the micro memory stick (and unchecked backup of "external memory" cause it won't run at all otherwise) but it still fails.
My hypothesis is that it might have something to do with either the custom themes or some specific setting on the phone that we all (those whose backup fails) have enabled or disabled. Hard to tell though which one it might be.

The solution is: delete all previous backups from your computer and run backup again. I did it and some other guys at a German forum did it, too. It runs just fine!

Just to add I tried deleting all the backups too, and it worked fine for me (finally!!!).
