> Problem with Java applications?

The application is Opera Mini, eMSN, Ultra IM, QuickIM. Basically all internet using applications.
My internet mode is HTML, switching it to WAP greatly slows the browsing speed.
The operator my friend uses is on WAP mode. I wonder if that makes a difference.

I use an instant message app called mxit and if i minimise it and just leave it, i still get all my messages, even if my phones locked and in my pocket while the app is running.
It could be that you losing gprs signal regularly.

Nokia has a function under connection settings that says..Keep alive constant or only when needed..Also a setting that allows you to determine connection time until it automatically times out.Is this simple function not available on the w800, or whatever phone it maybe?

Thou that still doesnt address the basic issue.. So did you use Yours in 'Wap' mode ever? and did it work rite then?

I have the same prob. When im using j2memaps or gmaps and i leave it idle the connection goes down, later when i try to search a different location the connection comes up and waste my minutes. Why it cant keep on all the time?

Hilariously enough we had the opposite thread somewhere here a few days ago, where someone's SE kept the connection alive the whole time a java app was open, and he was charged by the minute for GPRS so he wanted it to disconnect when idle.

I put it on WAP mode, the browsing speed on the SE browser was reduced significantly, and applications refused to connect.
I'll be taking my handset to the operaters's customer care centre today.
