go back into the settings for your gmail account, click advanced settings -> Encryption -> Incoming Server -> and select SSL

that should fix you up

edit: btw, you will get a message saying certificate is not valid (or something similar) so just accept that and it will conect fine

Yes, for incoming mail (read from the POP server) it works, even though it complains about the unsigned certificate, but at that point, there is a "continue anyway" option.
The real problem comes when you try to send a mail using smtp.gmail.com:465 using SSL/TLS encryption and user validation with username@gmail.com. Then I get an error message too, saying that the certificate is invalid, and at this point there is no "continue anyway" option, thus, I'm unable to send emails using my gmail account on the K800.

I have had some further contact with my internet provider, and now it seems like they think that there is some kind of problem on their side of the fence after all, it's either a problem with their smtp server, or some kind of problem with the SIM card in combination with the firmware in the K800. We'll just have to wait and see.

I have excatly the same problem with my account at Telia in Sweden. It works just fine on my old Samsung D500, but not on my K800. I have tried all possible settings, but it wonīt work when sending E-mails (receiving is OK). Itīs very frustrating! I donīt think Telia supports SSL on their SMTP, at least I havenīt found any information about it.

Called SE in Sweden and they knew about the problem (I guess a lot have called!), but they asked me to contact the service provider Telia. No luck there...

Something must have changed in K800 compared to all other phones since it works on other phones. The problem seems to apply to certain service providers in different countries. Perhaps some security feature that these service providers implemented, which kicks in on the K800?

If someone finds out how to fix this, please post it! Thanks!

I have contacted SE helpdesk several times, and they swear themselves free everytime, it's not their fault, blame Telia... IMHO that is a little strange point of view, since exactly the same settings work fine on many other phone models, SE models too. My old K700i can send emails without any problems with exactly the same settings, for example, so therehas to be something special with this particular model.

Have the same problem...

I think the problem is that the Certificate provider used by Gmail isn't listed in the phone.
Maybe it's possible to add providers to the list?

It's in Settings->"Common?"->Security->Certificate->Trusted certificates

Got a swedish phone btw so the above may differ... I just translated straight from swedish to english.

-e- Trying with the Google helpdesk now too but usually they're kinda slow...

I tried setting username=abc.def@serviceprovider.com as username. It works receiving but not sending E-mail. I donīt think it is the settings in the E-mail client (I have tried them all!), seems more to be a specific SMTP server config at some service providers, combined with perhaps the trusted certificates in the phone? Anyhow, the problem exists in different countries so there must be some work around.
Is there anyone who can compare the security certificates on K800 with the ones on K700 or K750 and see if there is something that differs? I have only my old D500 where it works fine...

I have tried to find info on how to include new certificates in K800 but havenīt found any...

Had the same problems with Telia. It works great on my K750 to send thru Telia server but not on K800i so I changed it to Tele2 which is my broadband supplier and now it works OK both to send and recieve e-mails.

Hi again.
I tried saving the gmail certificate and then both sending it via bluetooth and putting it in the "licensetransfer" folder but neither worked.

When sending it via bluetooth I got "Invalid certificate" and putting it in the above folder and then starting up the phone it just seemed to disappear.

I might be way off here but perhaps something like this could work?

The problem seems to be DNS related. When using IP-address instead of DNS name for the outgoing server it works fine with Telia.
You donīt need to set any user+pwd under advanced settings either (the outgoing username and password both blank).
For those in Sweden using telia.com as E-mail provider the outgoing POP/IMAP server (mailout.telia.com) has the IP-address 81.228.11.34. Try this and it works - at least it did for me!
